belated birthday photos

Oops!  I forgot to post any photos from his big day.  Here is my amendment to that.

july, in its entirety

Summer began busy and has been gaining momentum with each week until now I am literally skipping some of his naps just to make as many events as I can.  Tomorrow, for example, on my "day off" from babysitting this week, I am doing walking club at 9, meet the fire department club event for babies at 10, meeting Jared for lunch at 12, and meeting people at a bounce house/java gym for kids at 1:30.  Home by 3 and then I suppose I'll have to get my domestic hat on and cook or clean the rest of the day.  Maybe Elliott will even get a nap (gasp!)

It's been great having so much going on but I'm definitely doing all that I can do this week.  I need to relish it before January arrives and it's back to the grind for me.

Recent things Elliott likes:

Climbing the stairs up and down with my supervision.  He's very good at scooting down backwards.

Gets allergic dermal reactions to food and the dog constantly.  12 month belated checkup soon...will address then.

Reads his "toot toot" book repeatedly.  I might need to buy a new one soon if he rips the peekaboo flaps on this one too many times.

Pushes things around but is still not showing interest in walking.  He still has shaky little legs.  I still think I'll win for my bet of 14 months, 1 week to walk.  It's dangerous to bet against the person who has the power to teach him (or not teach him) to walk ; )

Elliott has taken much more interest in books and reading within the past few weeks.  He couldn't sit through even a short board book but now he will bring them to me and wants to explore them over and over.  They still have to be interactive types of course.  I'm glad this phase is finally starting and now we can read together!
