Baby shower, visitors, and a 32 week bump
hiccups
His newest thing is to hiccup 3 times per day on average. I've hit 2 times so far today, we'll see if he gets another round in before bed.
Moby and the DIA
Wednesday, June 20, 2012
Trying out our new Moby wrap with Cohen's monkey animal, and a trip to the Detroit Institute of Art (DIA) last Saturday. That atrium is just the little cafe area but the indoor architecture was really nice, and below is a Frankenthaler in the Contemporary section.
A visit from Ohio and Virginia
Tuesday, June 19, 2012
A visit from the shower hostesses and BFFs Tiffany Allison and Cohen. He is too engrossed in his sorbet to bother with a photo op.
Also, might I add that it was like...100* out today?? And I cooked potatoes in the oven. I know, poor planning on my part right.
The ice cream afterward makes up for it.
living room update
Sunday, June 17, 2012
Living room updates with the furniture we already had. coffee table situation will happen one day, and lamp/lighting situation will also be amended eventually.
those little tripod tables will eventually have padding and patterned fabric covering them. they are really teetering though because the crossover is too low so the base of support is tiny so we may or may not end up using them but i'll try to finish them off anyway.
White curtains will follow after painting; I am raising the curtain rods slightly higher.

I originally was thinking of making do-it-yourself roman shades for the baby room and/or our bedroom, with the original inspiration coming from these two photographs :
I've been trying to use a similar color scheme in the living room by bringing in the light walls and furniture and add the rose with some light blue but it is all in my head so far. Nothing has been purchased or framed or hung yet, except for some coral pillows.
I realized that we have some fairly nice light filtering shades in the bedrooms and I'd have to spend a lot of energy using super cheap shades to make them into roman shades. So I'd rather just keep the shades pulled up under the curtains so I can use them when necessary and save me the hassle. Plus, regular panel curtains are a no-brainer to make.
So, tentatively for the baby room, I ordered some black and white striped canvas fabric that should arrive soon.
Inspiration photos below :
(All of these are a liiiittle too hollywood regency for me except for the last one, but you get the idea)
uncomfortable!!
Tuesday, June 12, 2012
30 weeks this coming Friday. I'm uncomfortable now. I'm ready to be done now. I'm tired of never being able to even sit up on my own or if I use my leg muscles to shift or sit up my pelvis hurts. I can't breathe unless I'm propped and the baby movements are nice but it is losing its charm when I go for a walk and I feel like his legs are going to pop out of me. Or when I try to lay on either side and he moves and I have trouble falling asleep because I am distracted or think about how maybe I am squishing him.
These are all small and insignificant problems that I promise not to complain about, or to try not to, but for some reason today I am just feeling tired by it.
There is a lot to be thankful for though, and there have been things around me this year that remind me of that. If my biggest concerns today were that I was too bored, had to decide which glider to buy, was uncomfortable, and that I had a stomachache probably from eating too much food, then there really isn't much to say.
boat days

(Obviously this is not my drink, it is someone else's)
Spent the entire day Saturday on a boat an hour north

Photos of our first time to Saturday's Eastern Market in Detroit, "a local food district with more than 250 independent vendors and merchants"
"The Eastern Market farmer's distribution center is the largest open-air
flowerbed market in the United States and has more than 150 foods and
specialty businesses.
Although the market is in the largest historic public market district in
the U.S., the market itself is operated by the private sector."
And a photo of the most recent project I've been working on; a felt forest mobile including owls, deer, tree, mushroom, and a soon-to-be-finished fox!

Ok from the first picture to this one above I feel like I look as though I gained 10 lbs but I promise it was the next morning after and all I had eaten was toast for breakfast. The power of flattering clothing and angles I guess!
Rearranged some stuff. The metal white shelving we are removing but that is what I'm using for stuff right now. We are storage-less still.
