let it snow!

Wednesday, December 18, 2013
It's Christmas up here in snowy Michigan!  We had several inches this weekend and it was significant enough to stick all week with light flurries in between.  Pretty but cold!  I've also been preparing for our trip to Grand Rapids by wrapping presents, and whenever Elliott sees them around the house he goes "OooOOoh!" like he's discovered something really cool.  Not sure where he picked that up from but it makes him seem so old and funny!

^^ Not sure about the snow on his face!  He maybe regretted that! ^^

Imitating

I took Elliott walking in the mini mall today and a lady walked by and started coughing and covering her mouth while doing it.  Elliott started following her and pretended to cough and cover his mouth, too.  The lady thought it was funny and said, "Well at least he knows to cover his mouth when he does it!"  I have heard horror stories of kids repeating things they see strangers do in public that brings something embarrassing to the attention of everyone and I know that will be us one day soon!

He sometimes says "Down" which again sounds like "Da" but he does it when he wants to go Up as well.  "Da" means many things in our house...Daphne, Dada, Dog, Down, Done, and I'm sure there's more that I'm not even thinking of.

I'm thinking of registering us for a "signing time" session with the Momcat Signing Academy in the area.  We don't really have time for Music Together plus Signing Time, and I think he's at a good age right now to really utilize all the signs he could be learning.  Plus they only offer it certain days of the week and luckily one of them is Thursday morning which is my ONLY morning I will have free the entire week starting January.

My January - April schedule looks a little something like this:

Monday - Programming 9-12
Tuesday - Clinicals likely 9-4 or something
Wednesday - Programming 9-12, Fieldworkclass 1-4, Social work 420-615
Thursday - Social work 530-615pm
Friday - Programming 9-12

Elliott's schedule looks like this:
Monday - 8:30-5 daycare
Tuesday - 8:30-6 daycare
Wednesday -7:30-7:30 home daycare with a friend
Thursday - 4-7:30 babysitter at home
Friday - 8:30-3:30 daycare

But because it takes me an hour to drive to Ypsilanti plus I have to drop him off at the daycare or sitters beforehand, I need an hour and a half before and after class to accommodate for the commute.
SO...
Monday I'll leave at 7:30am and get home around dinner.
Tuesday I'll leave at 730 am get home around dinner.
Wednesday I leave 730am and get home at 7:45-8
Thursday I leave at 400 get home at 7:30
Friday I leave at 730 get home late afternoon.

And of course, Jared will be working Monday-Saturday during this same time because it is busy season so I will be doing this solo.  I've been cooking freezer meals in advance to try to help but I know everything in the house is going to fall apart and I won't be able to keep up.  I'm a little worried but people do it all the time...?

First Haircut

We (I) gave Elliott his first haircut a few weeks ago and I do wish I had done it sooner, like most people say in the end!  I saved a little lock and he did pretty well.  I trim it every now and then myself since then, and I always distract him with TV

A very limited Savannah & Nashville photo post!

I hardly took any photos with my digital and most are on my iphone so I will get to those later!  I just have a few of Elliott at Vanderbilt, the Grand Ole Opry, and on Skidaway

Two little monkeys

It's definitely winter weather up here so we have been staying indoors a lot more often!  Sometimes Elliott and Daphne go a little crazy...
