12 month appointment

Monday, August 12, 2013
We had his 1 year pediatrician appointment a little late because of all the events going on this summer, but here are his stats
29" tall
22.5 lbs
still has a big head!

We had him allergy tested via blood draw and got his results back today.  He is moderately allergic to peanut and sesame.  We already suspected sesame because of his reaction to hummus but I had been avoiding peanuts because of his unknown food allergies and I was afraid of the big bad peanut one.  I haven't been actively avoiding foods that come into contact with nuts but I haven't given him peanut butter or anything cooked with it as far as I know.  It's only moderate but I still need to talk to the pediatrician about whether this means it could get worse later or go away with age.  But for now, no nuts.

Recently he's developed a snuggling habit.  It's very lovable.  He will crawl up to me and lay his head in my lap or whenever I hold him 50% of the time his head will be resting on my shoulder.  People always comment on how he's snuggling me, and I take it for granted because this is normal for him, but others will say that their baby doesn't ever snuggle their head on them like that.  I've noticed he seems to be a more sensitive, gentle, and lovey baby than some others.  He is easily surprised and will be sad if another baby screams at him, and he will crawl up to them very happily wanting to greet them.  He has also never once taken a toy away from another baby or thrown anything at one.  This might change when he gets a little older but so far he just submits to them and lets them take all of his toys out of his hand.  His playmates are a little more possessive during play and I'm still waiting to see if his possessiveness with toys evolves in the next couple months or if this is just his personality.  He also does not shriek or tantrum yet to the degree that I've seen his playmates do, and I am very thankful for that.
