ahhhhh

I could really get used to this whole arrangement of having an hour free time every few hours.

Same as yesterday, he gets fussy after an hour and a half and then takes an hour or so nap.  It is lovely, I should have done this sooner.  Plus, today he only cried for 6 minutes before conking out and I even put him in his crib wide awake!  Every now and then he'll give a little cry if he wakes himself but at the most he has only cried for  6 minutes max before going back to sleep again.

I should also mention that (I think) because of his regular naps he has been happier to just "be" during the day which is nice too.  Today there was no crying in his swing during my shower.  Then he played happily in his gym while I vacuumed the house.

I have a life again!  I foresee my days filling back up again with books in peace and quiet with a nice cup of coffee...

  1. In the beginning, I tried to put Elise down after 90 minutes of wakefulness. There's research that shows a lot of support behind this 90 minute wakeful cycle, especially in the early stages. This way, she would end up taking about 3 naps a day (but with a lot of holding from me). I hope Elliott soon gets to that reliable 3 nap stage!

    1. he is down for his 3rd nap right now, after being awake for exactly 1.5 hours again...seems like 90 minutes is about exactly the amount of time he likes to be awake. he was obviously sleepy but wouldn't shut his eyes so i just put him right in with him fully awake. he's been talking to himself but it just turned to crying...we'll see how long it lasts, it's only been 5 minutes of talking so far. i'd love his naps to be longer but we're only on day 2 of training here so i can't have it all
